To the respected members of the Korean American Nurses Association of Southern California,

Hello, my name is Sarah Ko, the 27th President of the Korean American Nurses Association of Southern California.

 

For the past 53 years, KANASC has been a vital nursing organization that provides its members with opportunities for professional development, advocates for their rights and interests, promotes friendship and contributes to the well-being of communities and society to further mature together and grow together to be of support to one another. I would like to show my sincere appreciation and respect for the previous presidents’ and officers’ dedication to KANASC.

Currently, our amazing Korean nurses are working tirelessly to overcome the global COVID-19 pandemic. Fighting at the frontline is a wide range of nurses, from ICU nurses who are caring for patients in critical conditions and case managers who are guiding families through the turmoil. Once again, I would like to offer my deepest gratitude and respect to all the nurses who are fighting at the forefront of this COVID-19 pandemic. 

​

It is especially during trying times like these that I would like to remind myself, and each of you, to take care of our physical and emotional well-being. Because nurses play a central role in the medical battleground, our positive mental health and happiness have a direct impact on our patient's safety and health outcomes. Therefore, the Korean American Nurses' Association of Southern California (KANASC) will focus on "self-care" by hosting various activities and events in the year 2023. In addition, we will continue to do volunteer work in cooperation with the Korean community and the American mainstream society to continue the pioneering spirit and volunteer spirit of our senior nurses.

Furthermore, KANASC will forge ahead into the next 50 years by creating programs and opportunities to guide the newer, younger generation of Korean American nurses to ensure they reach their highest potential as fearless and adventurous leaders in their field. 

​

I will commit myself to being of service and will do my best to continue the legacy of our previous leaders.  I humbly ask the members of KANASC for your ongoing support.

존경하고 사랑하는 남가주한인간호사협회 회원 여러분,

안녕하십니까? 남가주한한간호사협회 27대 회장 고세라 입니다.

​

남가주한인간호사협회는 지난 53년간 남가주에 계신 한인간호사들의 자질 향상, 권익 옹호 및 신장을 기하고 회원간의 친목 도모, 이웃과 사회에 봉사라는 미션을 가지고 한인간호사들과 함께 성장하고 있는 단체입니다. 역대 회장님과 임원들과 협회 회원님들 모두에게 감사와 존경을 표합니다.

지금 자랑스러운 우리 한인 간호사들은 전세계적인 코비드 판데믹이라는 힘든 시간을 극복하고 있습니다. 의료의 최전선에서 환자들과 사투를 벌이시는 ICU 간호사들 부터 가족들의 염려를 손잡아 주시는 케이스메니져 간호사들까지 힘든 시간을 보내고 있습니다. 다시한번 코비드 판데믹 극복의 최선봉에 계신 모든 간호사들에게 진심으로 감사와 존경의 마음을 표합니다.  저는 이럴 때 일수록 자신의 건강과 정신을 더욱 더 돌보아야 한다고 생각합니다. 의료현장에서 중심이 되는 간호사들의 정신 건강과 행복은 환자들의 안전과 건강에 직접적으로 연결되어 있습니다. 따라서 남가주한인간호사협회는 2023년을 간호사의 “셀프 케어”를 목적으로 다양한 활동과 행사를 하고자 합니다. 더 나아가 한인커뮤니티 및 미국주류사회와 함께 협력하여 봉사활동을 지속적으로 함으로써 선배 간호사들의 개척정신과 봉사정신을 이어가도록 하겠습니다. 또한 남가주한인간호사협회는 지금부터 새로운 50년을 준비하는 마음으로  젊고 능력 있는 한인 간호사들이 의료 간호현장에서 도전적이고 진취적인 리더쉽을 발휘할 수 있도록 프로그램을 개발하고 지원할 것입니다.

우리모두가 인정하고 자랑스러운 남가주한인간호사협회가 되도록 최선을 다해서 노력하겠습니다. 남가주한인간호사협회 회원님들의 많은 지원과 응원을 부탁 드립니다.
